Founded as a 501 (c) (3) in 2016, Igarape Inc is an independent non-profit organization focused on advancing public security, digital transformation, climate action, sustainable development and international cooperation. The organization supports applied research, technology development, strategic advocacy and policy innovation around the world.
 
Igarape Inc has established a strong record in advancing data-driven and evidence-based solutions to intractable challenges. It supports a range of organizations to promote safety, justice, and development in lower- and middle-income countries and cities across the Americas, Africa, and Asia.
 
Igarape Inc is committed to expanding the profile, reach and impact of public, private and nonprofit organizations committed to improving security, advancing digital rights, accelerating climate action, strengthening sustainable development and promoting multilateral cooperation. It is committed to developing partnerships to make the world a safer place.

Research and advocacy

Igarape Inc supports a wide range of organizations to undertake cutting-edge applied research and strategic outreach on issues related to public security, digital transformation, climate action, sustainable development and international cooperation.

Technology

Igarape Inc helps several types of organizations incubate, test, evaluate and deploy new technologies to make people, communities and cities safer. Examples include tools to track invasive surveillance, body-worn police cameras and predictive crime analytics.

Building partnerships

Igarape Inc works in partnerships with a wide range of governments, private companies and non-governmental organizations to deliver social impact at scale. Examples include the Open Society Foundations, Luminate Foundation, Global Innovation Fund, United Nations Foundation, the governments of Canada and Switzerland, non-governmental organizations such as the Institute for Security Studies, as well as technology groups such as Google Ideas and SWAE.

Misha Glenny

Journalist and writer

Misha Glenny is a globally celebrated author of non-fiction. He has been visiting professor at Columbia University’s Harriman Institute and is the author of several books, including the bestseller, McMafia, and Nemesis. McMafia is now an acclaimed BBC series. Misha also advises several international NGOs including Global Witness, and is working on a new series about environment crime in the Amazon.
 
Misha is a former correspondent for the Guardian and the BBC. He specialized in reporting on the Yugoslav wars in the early 1990s following the breakup of Yugoslavia. While at the BBC, Glenny won 1993´s Sony Gold Award for his outstanding contribution to broadcasting. Glenny has advised the United States and some European governments on policy issues and for three years ran an NGO helping with the reconstruction of Serbia, Macedonia and Kosovo.

Bruno Giussani

Curator of TED Global

Bruno Giussani is the European director of TED and the curator of the annual TEDGlobal conferences and other TED events. A writer, entrepreneur and idea generator, he is also a member of the Board of Tinext, and advises private companies and public organizations on innovation and communication strategy. His writings have appeared in many publications in Europe and the U.S.
 
Bruno is a recognized specialist of global affairs and of the social and economic impacts of technoscientific innovation. He was an executive at the World Economic Forum, an Internet columnist for the New York Times, an adviser to the Atlantic Council, co-founded two other companies and authored several books. He was a 2004 Knight Fellow at Stanford University and an Affiliated Fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford.

Alexandra Kosslyn

Head Of Partnerships – ContinuumLab.ai

Alexandra Kosslyn has nearly two decades of experience in investor relations across long-short equity and venture capital. She was most recently head of investor relations at Prime Movers Lab, which focuses on breakthrough scientific startups. Prior to that, she was a partner at Pershing Square Capital Management, L.P., a concentrated research-intensive fundamental value investor in long and occasionally short investments in the public markets. She is currently consulting for groups in sustainability-minded finance.
 
Ms. Kosslyn graduated cum laude with a degree in the History of Art from Bryn Mawr College and received an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School

Robert Muggah

Founder of Igarapé Institute and SecDev Group

Robert Muggah specializes in cities, security, migration and new technologies. He co-founded the Igarapé Institute and the SecDev Group and advises governments, technology companies and international organizations. He has authored dozens of peer-review articles and written and edited eight books on arms control, stability operations, refugees, and the rise of digital gangs and cyber cartels. The latest is Terra Incognita: 100 Maps to Survive the Next 500 Years (Penguin, 2020). Robert is a frequent public speaker, including at Global City Expo, Chicago Council, World Economic Forum and TED. He serves on UN Secretary-General appointed panels, sits on the board of several start-up tech companies, and convenes a range of international networks on issues related to city diplomacy, international security, and digital transformation. He is a fellow of Princeton University and the Bosche Academy. Robert received his DPhil from the University of Oxford.
