Founder of Igarapé Institute and SecDev Group
Robert Muggah specializes in cities, security, migration and new technologies. He co-founded the Igarapé Institute and the SecDev Group and advises governments, technology companies and international organizations. He has authored dozens of peer-review articles and written and edited eight books on arms control, stability operations, refugees, and the rise of digital gangs and cyber cartels. The latest is Terra Incognita: 100 Maps to Survive the Next 500 Years (Penguin, 2020). Robert is a frequent public speaker, including at Global City Expo, Chicago Council, World Economic Forum and TED. He serves on UN Secretary-General appointed panels, sits on the board of several start-up tech companies, and convenes a range of international networks on issues related to city diplomacy, international security, and digital transformation. He is a fellow of Princeton University and the Bosche Academy. Robert received his DPhil from the University of Oxford.
